Mountains & Plains bookstores display and distribute this gorgeous, full-color Winter Catalog as a holiday gift guide for their customers. Everyone benefits from this spectacular publication: advertisers, bookstores, wholesalers, and especially consumers.

xxxxxx

  • The Winter Catalog is a vital part of Mountains & Plains. Through orders for catalogs, publisher advertisers are assured that MPIBA booksellers are excited about stocking and selling their frontlist holiday titles.
  • The Winter Catalog is also a vital part of the bookstores’ financial health. MPIBA gives bookstores a “heads-up” in summer 2017 so they have time to research distribution numbers and get co-op dollars in place, in order to make the Winter Catalog an integral part of their holiday marketing plans.
  • MPIBA only produces Winter Catalogs with imprinting, as we believe the bookstore’s logo and branding should be reflected on anything they choose to display in their store.
  • The store’s logo appears on the front cover, and the entire bottom of the back cover can contain a coupon, ad, map, or customer message designed by MPIBA.
  • Winter Catalog books and MPIBA marketing pieces are prominently displayed at the Fall Discovery Show, where experienced booksellers share their tips with newcomers.
  • MPIBA provides FREE Shelf Talkers in quantity to bookstores, so that customers can visually connect the catalog at the front counter with the book on the shelf.
  • Many stores see customers coming in with the catalog year after year, marked up with holiday gift ideas for their friends and family.

The Winter Catalog was a huge success for me.”

Out West Books in Grand Junction, Colorado

Owner Marya Johnston of Out West Books has been using newspaper insertions to distribute her store’s personalized Winter Catalogs since she joined Mountains & Plains, and she has been ecstatic with the success. In 2016, she inserted 14,500 catalogs into The Daily Sentinel in Grand Junction, Colorado. “I was SO busy in December. The Winter Catalog was a huge success for me. It brought so many people in the store that I didn’t know existed! In fact, just last week a lady came in carrying it with items she was looking for circled in Sharpie. One month later (January) and it’s still working!!”

People just flowed in, waving the catalog.”

Old Firehouse Books in Fort Collins, Colorado

In 2016, she showcased a 15% discount offer and inserted the catalogs into the Fort Collins Coloradoan and the Windsor Beacon. Susie has ordered this quantity (and more!) year after year in order to successfully market to her hometown and to adjacent towns without an independent bookstore.
