- The Reading the West Book Awards, a program of the Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association, assists publishers, authors, and booksellers in promoting and building sales for exceptional books and authors.
Reading the West Book Awards winners and shortlist titles exemplify the best in fiction and non-fiction writing, culinary writing, and illustration, whose subject matter is set in the MPIBA region (Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming) or invokes the spirit of the region.
If nomination is submitted by someone other than a publisher, MPIBA will contact the book's publisher to discuss the $150 entry fee, and to arrange for reading copies for the selection committees, if applicable.

Titles should be set in the MPIBA region, or evoke the spirit or cuisine of our region, and have a first-time publication date of calendar year 2018 (hardcover or paperback original). You may nominate up to three titles on this form.
The nomination fee is $150/title.
