• The Reading the West Book Award short-list and winning titles exemplify the best in fiction and non-fiction writing and illustration set in the the 12-state MPIBA region, created by a regional author or artist, and/or invoking the spirit of the region. The awards celebrate the rich variety of writing in and about our region, and honor the extraordinary diversity of our reading public.

  • Qualifications

    In order to be considered for the 2019 Reading the West Book Awards, submissions must meet the following criteria:
    -The book must have been originally published in 2019.
    -The book must be available through mainstream distribution channels.
    -The person submitting or the publisher (if different) must be able to provide complimentary reading copies (approximately 15) to our bookseller reading committees. Copies must be available to mail by January 15, 2020.
    -The person submitting or the publisher (if different) must pay the $150 nomination fee.
