MPIBA membership is open to bookstores in our region (Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming), as well as to publishers, wholesalers, sales reps, and other book industry professionals.

Membership Categories and Dues

The membership year runs from July 1 through June 30.

Active Bookstore Members:

An independent, privately‐owned business operating in the MPIBA region whose primary source of income is derived from the retail sale of books and other printed materials. These are voting members and are eligible to serve on the Board of Directors.

Fall Discovery Show (Trade Show) admission is obtainable for you and your employees if you are a current member in good standing.

Active Bookstore Members Annual Dues:

  • 1 to 5 employees – $50.00
  • 6 to 20 employees  – $100.00
  • 21 to 50 employees – $125.00
  • 51 to 100 employees – $175.00
  • 101+ employees – $200.00

Active Industry Members:

Dues are $150.00 per year

Publishers, wholesalers, and their representatives who regularly conduct business with booksellers in the MPIBA region. These are voting members and are eligible to serve on the Board of Directors.

Associate Industry Members:

Dues are $150.00 per year

Chain bookstores and bookstores headquartered outside the MPIBA region; authors; publishing/bookselling industry professionals (agents, media, publicists, etc); associations; sidelines/gift companies, and other non‐book vendors. These are not voting members, and may not serve on the Board of Directors.

The world of bookselling is about colleagues and sharing ideas about books and retail and how to put the two things together. Our store would not be in business today without the help that we got from others who were dealing with the same issues we were or had been doing it longer than we had and offered to help us.
