ABA Presents: Maximizing Backlist – Proven ways to market, promote, and sell backlist titles
Presenters: TBA
A bookstore’s frontlist sales which are spurred by handselling, current events, reviews, and media coverage are essential. But when it comes to bottom-line profits, backlist titles with proven track records can be an equal, and potentially more manageable, asset. In this session, ABA senior staff and Board members will explore proven ways to market, promote, and sell backlist titles. The session will include a discussion of advantageous backlist terms now being offered by some publishers as well as best practices for successfully managing your store’s cash flow and return on investment.

Edelweiss: How to Use Analytical Tools to “Work Better, Read More”
Presenter: Joe Foster, Above the Treeline/Edelweiss
One of the biggest challenges facing booksellers is effective inventory management. Picking the right collection of books is perhaps the greatest service provided to customers, but it can also be time-consuming. It’s an art to successfully increase turns while maintaining or improving margins. But science can help. By using data analytics to uncover sales trends and benchmark performance, you can take much of the guesswork out of your operations. In this session, you will learn how to use the data in Edelweiss+Analytics to guide your stocking decisions and increase efficiency.
