JENNIFER JORDAN
THE LAST MAN ON THE MOUNTAIN: The Death of an American Adventurer on K2
W.W. Norton & Company
In 1939 the Savage Mountain claimed its first victim. Born into vast wealth yet uneasy with a life of leisure, Dudley Wolfe, of Boston and Rockport, Maine, set out to become the first man to climb K2, the world’s second-highest mountain and, in the opinion of mountaineers, an even more formidable challenge than Mt. Everest. Although close to middle age and inexperienced at high altitude, Wolfe, with the team leader, made it higher than any other members of the expedition, but he couldn’t get back down. Suffering from altitude sickness and severe dehydration, he was abandoned at nearly 25,000 feet; it would be another sixty-three years before the author discovered his remains.

“A fascinating tale … readers who are into high-altitude adventure stories won’t be disappointed.”
-Associated Press
Jennifer Jordan, an award-winning author, filmmaker, and screenwriter, has twice lived at the base of K2, where in 2002 she found the remains of Dudley Wolfe, the hero of THE LAST MAN ON THE MOUNTAIN. She lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.

GORDON CAMPBELL
MISSING WITNESS
HarperCollins Publishers
In this electrifying debut thriller, a brilliant defense lawyer takes on a murder case with ingenious twists. Phoenix, Arizona, 1973: a beautiful woman, armed with a gun and accompanied by her twelve-year-old daughter, enters a house. Shots are fired; inside, her husband lies dead. The case seems open and shut. The cops, the attorney general’s office, and the media are certain the woman is guilty. The only witness to the shooting is in a catatonic state and cannot testify. But the murdered man’s wealthy father believes he owes the woman something and hires Dan Morgan, the best lawyer in Phoenix, to defend her. When the legendary criminal attorney takes on a case it’s to win, no matter what the odds. But for Morgan and his young protégé, Doug McKenzie, there are no easy answers, only mysteries, and the question of innocence and guilt take on profound new meaning.

Gordon Campbell lives with his wife, United States District Judge Tena Campbell, in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he practices law with the firm of Parsons Behle & Latimer. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

BOBBIE PYRON
A DOG’S WAY HOME
HarperCollins Publishers
Katharine Tegen Books
Daddy says, “Most folks got a north star in their life-something that gives their life extra meaning. Mine is music.” Without even thinking, I say, “Mine is Tam.” Abby knows that Tam, her Shetland sheepdog, is her north star, and she’s pretty certain she’s his, too. But when an accident separates Abby and Tam, it feels as though all the stars have fallen out of the sky and nothing will ever be right again. As the days between them turn to weeks, then months, dangers and changes fill up Abby’s and Tam’s lives. Will they ever find their way home to each other? Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains, A DOG’S WAY HOME is an unforgettable tale of the many miles, months, and mountains that divide two loyal friends-but that can’t possibly keep them apart.

Bobbie Pyron calls A DOG’S WAY HOME … “my own personal love letter to all the great, classic dog books I’ve read and loved–and to all the dogs I’ve loved.” As a part-time librarian, Bobbie enjoys sharing dog stories and books of all kinds with readers. Bobbie is also the author of THE RING, a teen novel about the world of competitive boxing. When she’s not writing, working as a librarian, or volunteering with animal rescue organizations, Bobbie and her dogs Boo, Teddy, and Sherlock can often be found walking in the woods of Park City, Utah, with her husband, Todd.
